Creating this cake was more than just an artistic endeavor—it was a celebration of friendship. My best friend, a huge fan of all things Tory Burch and the color orange, was about to celebrate a milestone birthday. Her wonderful husband secretly planned a surprise backyard party, gathering friends and family to make it a day she would never forget. It was such an honor to be part of this moment.
The cake design was inspired by her vibrant personality and her love for elegant yet bold details. I chose to make the top tier a peach-flavored vanilla sponge, not only because it’s a favorite of hers, but also because the fresh and fruity notes of peach symbolized the sweetness of our friendship. Paired with a peach compote filling, the top layer was light, airy, and packed with flavor. The bottom tier, on the other hand, was a rich, dense chocolate cake, because what’s a celebration without a touch of decadence? Both tiers were eggless, making sure everyone at the party could enjoy a slice.
