Nachos
Background
Nachos were invented in 1943 by Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya in Piedras Negras, Mexico, near the Texas border. When a group of U.S. Army wives arrived at his restaurant after closing hours, he improvised with what he had — tortilla chips, cheese, and jalapeños — and served the dish he called “Nacho’s Especiales.” The snack became an instant hit and, over time, evolved into a world-famous comfort food enjoyed at parties, movie nights, and game days.
Today, nachos range from simple cheese-loaded versions to grand platters topped with beans, veggies, and sauces — each bite bringing the fiesta spirit to your table!
